The legendary banner, which gave the two one of their biggest hit years ago, is all set to create the same magic again with this mature, sensitive love story. The film with a unique flavour delves deep into the nuances of the relationship between the two protagonists. What’s more, Jaana Pehchana is also being directed by Sachin himself. And the affable actor-director is making sure that everything is perfect. “Is this okay?” he asks the photographer as he stands next to Ranjeeta, with their backs turned to the camera. “Okay,” says the latter. “Now turn a little to face each other and… smile,” he instructs. And the two formidable actors break into the most natural smile, looking into each other’s eyes. The crackling chemistry between the two is almost palpable. “Working with Ranjeeta after all these years feels exactly the same as it did then. Nothing has changed,” Sachin says matter-of-factly before rushing off for a change of outfit.
Seeing actors Sachin and Ranjeeta posing together before the camera, it feels as if three decades have just melted away. You are back in the sizzling ‘70s, watching their super-hit film, Ankhiyon Ke Jharokhon Se. “Fantastic!” shouts the photographer standing nearby. With a jolt, you realize that they are actually shooting the promo stills of their forthcoming film, Jaana Pehchana produced by Rajshri Productions
Meanwhile, the photographer continues to shoot solo pictures of Ranjeeta. “Will that be enough?” she asks after a few clicks, visibly relieved when the photographer nods his affirmation. “All this is new to me,” she says. “Earlier, we never used to have special photo-shoots for the promos. The pictures shot during the shoot were used for the purpose,” Ranjeeta explains. “But this is fun,” she adds, grinning like a child. “It has been such a fantastic experience, working again with Rajshri Productions (P) Ltd and Sachin. It felt like coming back home after a long time. I will really miss all of this when I’m back in the US,” she says. Just then, she is called for another dress change, this time a more informal one. Ranjeeta grimaces at the suggestion. But before the photographer skips a heart-beat, the seasoned actor breaks into a charming, mischievous smile, walking purposefully towards the dressing room. Well, some things really never change.
